Centre of excellence in Aquaculture and Fisheries of AIT

Asian aquaculture leads the world by its share of over 89% of the global aquaculture production, realized by some of the most diverse aquaculture systems. Sustainability of aquaculture in the Asian region is key to ensure global food security. AARM gives you a unique opportunity to learn everything about sustainable Asian aquaculture as a model for rest of the world. The learning environment at AIT is mostly practice-based by closely working with the local aquaculture industry. All our academic offerings are based on the following guiding principles:

  • A focus on the development of sustainable intensive aquaculture systems and the management of aquatic resources to enhance food and nutritional security.
  • Develop problem solving skills to enhance the capability to resolve diverse issues of aquaculture and fisheries systems.
  • Inculcate the ability to design sustainable aquaculture systems to enhance production capacity and develop sustainable management practices.
  • Apply modern tools and techniques in laboratory analysis and on-farm management practices for increased production and profit from aquaculture.
  • Proved the opportunity to specialize in frontier areas of aquaculture science and technology such as Aquatic Health Management and Disease Diagnostics, Aquaculture Nutrition and Feed Technology, Genetic Stock Improvement and Selective Breeding, among others.
  • Expose to diverse production systems in the Asian aquaculture industry.
