Visiting Professor at the Shanghai Ocean University (2018 – 2022)

Dr. K.R. Salin from the Aquaculture Program of AIT was appointed as a Visiting Professor at Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) in 2018 and was invited to teach SHOU students. This appointment has greatly helped to worktogether with Chinese students and faculty and encourage many students from SHOUI to apply for theAIT's Aquaculture Program.

Honorary Director of the Network for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives in Asia and the Pacific (NEDAC)

Dr. K.R. Salin from the Aquaculture Program of AIT was appointed as the Honorary Director of NEDAC from January 2021. NEDAC, based in Bangkok, is an international network of agricultural cooperatives formed by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), and International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 1991. A capacity development project supported by NEDAC was also initiated at AIT.

Senior professional position for AARM faculty in the World Aquaculture Society-Asian Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC)

Dr. K.R. Salin was elected as the President of the World Aquaculture Society Asian Pacific Chapter. It is an outcome of a global ballot held in September 2021 among the members of the Society, which is the largest professional aquaculture organization in the world, based in the USA. This is a three-year commitment as the President-elect in 2022, running President in 2023, and Past-President in 2024. At least three major international aquaculture conferences will be organized under the aegis of the World Aquaculture Society during this term. Previously, Dr. Salin had completed a term as the Director of the Society based on an election in 2019.

Member of the Advisory Board, South-South Aquaculture and Fisheries Cooperation (SSAFC)

Dr. K.R. Salin was appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of SSAFC, the South-South Aquaculture and Fisheries Cooperation. SSAFC is a platform for fruitful cooperation to transfer Asian aquaculture experience and know-how to the African region. Thus, the Asian network will continually support the African region for the exchange of knowledge via a wide range of annual activities including workshops, webinars, policy debates, expos, and learning from each other physically and virtually.
