Course Description:
The Aquafeed Innovation Masterclass is an intensive, six-day executive and technical training program designed to bridge the gap between raw ingredient science, feed formulation, industrial processing, and real-world farm performance. Hosted by the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) program at AIT, this masterclass brings together leading academic experts, regional aquafeed manufacturers, additive innovators, and precision aquaculture technology providers across Southeast Asia.
Participants will explore nutritional requirements for freshwater and marine species, ingredient quality control, novel protein sources, least-cost feed formulation modeling, extrusion processing, and precision precision-feeding tools (IoT, acoustic sensors, radar). Through hands-on software exercises, feed mill and commercial farm field visits, and interactive panel sessions with industry leaders, attendees will gain actionable skills to optimize feed conversion ratios (FCR), enhance aquatic animal health, and lower production costs.
Course Objective:
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate Ingredients: Assess conventional and alternative raw materials based on nutritional quality, digestibility, safety, and cost.
- Formulate Feeds: Design species-specific, least-cost feed formulations tailored to target growth stages using formulation software.
- Optimize Processing: Explain how conditioning, extrusion, and physical pellet quality affect digestibility, water quality, and farm FCR.
- Apply Precision Tech: Evaluate digital feeding tools (IoT, acoustic sensors, radar) and functional additives using economic and operational metrics.
- Implement Field Solutions: Translate feed science into actionable farm strategies that reduce cost per kilogram of biomass gain.
