Focusing on tropical Asian fresh, brackish and marine aquaculture and novel sustainable culture technologies for species such as Nile tilapia, giant freshwater prawn, penaeid shrimps, Asian seabass, and grouper, AIT offers a professional master's degree in New Frontiers of Innovative Asian Aquaculture. This is a one-year master's degree program mainly intended for working professionals in the aquaculture industry worldwide. The courses emphasize novel technologies for aquaculture seed production and grow-out, the use of applied genetics and biotechnology in broodstock, hatchery, and health management, disease prevention and vaccine development, automated monitoring technologies (for monitoring water quality, health status, the well-being of the culture animals, and biometrics – growth, size and biomass), and recent advances in aquaculture nutrition, feeds and feeding, and development of greener and cleaner aquaculture production systems. All the courses emphasize the scientific and social principles of sustainable aquaculture production systems and their contribution to the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
