Commercial intensive rearing of white shrimp requires substantial refinement of protocols, particularly to suit urban aquaculture settings. High-density rearing in closed containments employing cleaner aquaculture practices in areas close to the marketssupplying a broad range of consumers is an upcoming field of research. Twointensive experimental grow-out units inan entirely recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) primarily for the grow-out trials ofwhite shrimp have been constructed at AARM, AIT. Another RAS for nutritional experiments with finfish has also been established at AARM.
